Marcus Farrell is a comic book writer in the Los Angeles area, best known as the creator of Hunters of Tovera (See More).

Needing a website to help promote his series and studio, I had the honor of building him one that does just that. With Mr. Farrell seeking consistent guidance in the marketing realm for his book, this project is ongoing.

Mr. Farrell agreed that his website would need to be mostly visual, featuring the beautiful art imbedded between the pages of his books. In the end, I believe I were able to achieve that goal by creating something visually engaging for site visitors! (Visit site)

Website Development Process

User Profiles

Upon guiding Mr. Farrell on the best direction for his website, I began the process in my usual way, by first developing 3 unique users and/or potential site visitors. Beyond just the comic books, EBC has a longterm plan to sell their own unique collectibles and merch, so it was important to include ‘collectors’ in addition to ‘readers.’ (view full report)

User Flow

Once the 3 users were established, I began developing a user-flow chart that would fulfill Mr. Farrell’s current business goals, which initially was to A) promote and sell the first book and B) direct fans and new readers to their Kickstarter page. As shown below, the most pertinent pages are represented in green, while the secondary pages are in grey. (view full report)

Wireframes

After establishing the user-profiles and user-flow, I began contemplating site architecture via mid-fidelity wireframing. Per usual, my goal was to make things simple and easy to navigate with as few clicks, pages and links as possible so that visitors wouldn’t feel exhausted seeking the information they needed. Mock-ups

Finally, after completing the above stages, it was time to begin mock-ups. As mentioned, Mr. Farrell and myself both agreed the site would need to be visually appealing, so I sliced and diced up a variety of panels, covers and such to achieve that. Although some of the imagery and text alignments would change in the final stage, I was thankfully able to utilize much of what was created here in the mock-ups. (view full report)

Finalization

Once all stages above were complete, it was quite simple to build the site. Even with a few small changes from the mock-ups needing to be made, the previous stages made everything simple, uniform and connected for site visitors. (Visit site)

Marketing Collateral

As mentioned, Mr. Farrell will be needing extensive marketing collateral (both digital and physical) in order to continue promoting Hunters of Tovera. So far, I’ve provided the below business cards for him to use at networking events and conventions such as the recent Los Angeles Comic Convention. The QR code will lead visitors directly to his LinkTree and in turn, the website I’ve provided. Next up, is Wonder-Con!
